Work Schedule:                                                                              

200-day contract.  Employees may periodically be required to attend after-school or evening events as a normal expectation of their position.

POSITION SUMMARY

Work closely with the principal, school personnel, and students to build and maintain a positive and safe school climate.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
  • Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and attendance problems.
  • Meet with parents and caregivers to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
  • Maintain spreadsheets and placement of students in morning/afternoon detention, Saturday School, and in-school suspension.
  • Work with school resource officers to monitor truancy and to conduct home visits.
  • Conference with at-risk students for behavhior, attendance, and/or grades and assist in providing interventions.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
  • Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress.
  • Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of secondary school programs.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required.
  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and professional development sessions to maintain and improve professional competence..
  • Perform administrative duties such as assisting in school libraries, hall and cafeteria monitoring, and bus loading and unloading.
  • Select and use appropriate resources.
  • Adhere to student Individualized Education Program (IEP) and 504 plans.
  • Plan assignments for teacher assistance, volunteers, and substitutes.
  • Respond appropriately to student behavior.
  • Demonstrate care and respect when interacting with students.
  • Ensure students are actively engaged in learning.
  • Provide timely, consistent, high-quality feedback to students.
  • Reflect on practice and make adjustments for professional growth.
  • Maintain professionalism with staff members.
  • Report to the proper authorities any cases of suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse.
  • Adhere to all policies of the District.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or other administrators.
SKILLS & ABILITIES

         Education:                              Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study:                                                                 Education

 

        Experience:                             Prior classroom teaching experience required

 

        Computer Skills:                     Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and                                                               programs associated with the position.

 

        Certifications & Licenses:      Must have current Arkansas teaching license.

                                                       Must be able to document highly-qualified status under federal law (where required).

        Other Requirements:             1. Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.

                                                      2. Appropriate personal and professional conduct at all times around students, other                                                           staff members, and the general public.
